INCIDENT: Homicide Investigation
LOCATION: Oak Glen Wash, near Avenue D, Yucaipa
SUSPECT(S): #1: Dennis Wright, 21-year-old Male, Resident of Yucaipa
#2: Kyle Heller, 20-year-old Male, Resident of Yucaipa
VICTIM(S): Kenneth Xiong, 19-year-old Male, Resident of Fresno
UPDATE: June 4, 2025 – Through continued investigation, Kyle Heller, age 20 of Yucaipa, was identified as a second suspect in the murder of Kenneth Xiong. Heller was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for PC-187 Murder.
SUMMARY: On Saturday, May 31, 2025, at approximately 6:41 a.m., deputies from the Yucaipa station responded to a man down call in the Oak Glen wash. Upon arriving, deputies located Kenneth Xiong with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, responded and assumed the investigation. During the investigation, Dennis Wright was identified as the suspect responsible for Xiong’s death, and a warrant for his arrest was issued. On Sunday morning, June 1, 2025, Wright was located in Yucaipa and taken into custody. He was booked at the Central Detention Center for PC 187-Murder.
