INCIDENT: Drowning
LOCATION: Lake Havasu/Colorado River
VICTIM(S): Simon Daniel, 18 years of age, resident of Pinole, Ca.
SUMMARY: On May 17, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a 911 call was dispatched to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reference a male who possibly drown near Copper Canyon, on Lake Havasu. For unknown reasons, Simon Daniel went under the water and did not resurface. San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Marine Enforcement Units and the Mohave County Sheriff's Department's Divison of Boating Safety Units arrived on scene and immediately deployed divers where Daniel was last seen in the water.
Dive operations were suspended and sonar scanning of the area was utilized until darkness fell. On May 18, 2025, the search for Daniel was continued utilizing side scan sonar and a remotely operated vehicle (ROV). Daniel was located and recovered at approximately 8:54 a.m., by San Bernardino County Dive Team members, with the help of the Mohave County Sheriff's Department's ROV.
