Peace Officers Memorial Day: Thursday, May 15, 2025

The Simi Valley Police Department would like to remind the community that Peace Officers Memorial Day is this Thursday, May 15, 2025. This day is set aside to honor the men and women in law enforcement who have lost their lives in the line of duty, protecting and serving their communities.

For our department, this day holds deep meaning as we remember Officer Michael Clark. On August 4, 1995, Officer Clark was killed in the line of duty while responding to a call for help from a community member. He remains the only Simi Valley Police Officer to have made the ultimate sacrifice.

In honor of Officer Clark and fallen Peace Officers across the nation, our officers will wear black mourning bands over their badges, and flags at City facilities will be flown at half-staff.

This observance is part of National Police Week, recognized from Sunday, May 11, through Saturday, May 17, 2025. First proclaimed by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, Police Week is a time to reflect on the courage and commitment of those who serve in law enforcement.
