2nd UPDATE #LASD Homicide Responded to a Death Investigation, 2100 block of Oris Street #Compton
On Friday, May 9, 2025, homicide investigators responded to the 2100 block of Oris Avenue to investigate the shooting death of a 12-year-old.
Through an ongoing investigation, the investigators with the assistance of Compton Sheriff's Station Deputies, were able to positively identify the Subject. Based on the identity, coupled with other evidence from the scene, an arrest warrant was issued for the arrest of a Subject.
Earlier today, at approximately 10:00 am, the Subject, a 17-year-old Male was taken into custody in the city of Los Angeles. The Subject was booked at a nearby Sheriff’s Station for murder and transported to a juvenile detention facility.
The case is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.

FIRST UPDATE BELOW:
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 12-year old Hispanic male in the city of Compton.
Deputies from Compton Sheriff Station responded to the 2100 block of Oris Street in the city of Compton regarding an assault with a deadly weapon/gunshot victim call for service. Deputies located the victim in the park and immediately rendered aid until the arrival of Compton Fire Department. Compton Fire took over life-saving measures before transporting him to a local area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The incident occurred on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 3:55 p.m.
The suspect was described as a male wearing all black clothing including a black ski mask who was last seen running northbound on Oleander Avenue and out of view.
