#LASD Homicide Assisted Huntington Park PD, Officer Involved Shooting Investigation, 3400 Blk E. Florence Ave. Huntington Park

Los Angeles County Homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the officer involved shooting that occurred in the 3400 block E. Florence Ave., Huntington Park on Tuesday,  April 8th, 2025 at approximately 12:26 AM.

Huntington Park Police Department officers responded to a report of an individual setting a fire at Salt Lake Park. When officers arrived, the officers encountered a male Hispanic adult, approximately 44 years old, who was armed with a large knife.

Officers issued multiple verbal commands instructing the individual to drop the weapon. When he failed to comply, officers deployed a Taser in an attempt to safely disarm him. The Taser appeared to be ineffective, and the individual continued to pose an immediate threat. As a result, an officer-involved shooting occurred.

A knife was recovered at the scene.
 
The individual was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

NARRATIVE:  

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide is responding to investigate the circumstances surrounding a Huntington Park Police Officer-involved shooting.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 , at approximately 12:26 AM, on the 3400 block E. Florence Ave., in the city Huntington Park.

The suspect was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

No officers was injured during the incident.

It has not been determined what led up to the officer-involved shooting.
There is no additional information available at this time.
