At approximately 0400 hours today, detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Transit Services Bureau (TSB) located and arrested Daniel Doyle Scallion (28 years old) in connection with criminal threats made against Metro rail expansion crew members. The threats, which were electronically communicated on February 20, 2025, prompted a swift investigation by TSB.
The threat was received by Metro on the heels of its ongoing rail expansion project in the City of Lawndale. The anonymous email contained a direct and alarming statement, claiming that Metro employees would be “shot.” In response, TSB detectives immediately launched an in-depth investigation to trace the source of the threat.
As a result of their efforts, investigators successfully identified, located, and arrested the individual responsible for the threat. Captain Shawn Kehoe states, “This timely enforcement action highlights the hard work of TSB deputies and detectives and further speaks to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding Metro employees, our ridership and members of the public.”
The Sheriff's Department takes all threats with the utmost seriousness and is committed to pursuing criminal prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. Public safety remains our top priority, and we urge anyone with information regarding threats or suspicious activity to come forward and report it immediately. His next court date is April 04, 2025, and being held with a 50,000 dollar bail amount.
