READY-Purdue for winter driving.

As challenging winter driving conditions continue to affect drivers on campus and throughout our area, please consider the creation of an Emergency Car-Kit for your vehicle.

Suggested Considerations for Emergency Car-Kit Contents:

Cat Litter / Sand - for traction
Ice Scraper / Shovel – for snow and ice removal on or near vehicle
Warm Clothes / Blankets – for keeping warm plus extra hats and gloves too
Flashlights - for warning and illumination, also don’t forget the extra batteries
First-Aid Kit - a good idea in or out of the kit
Food - pack non-perishable snack foods high in protein such as energy bars
Water - enough for each person in vehicle and any pets carried as well

Additional Personal and Vehicle Considerations:
A Cell Phone
Maintain a fuel tank level of ¾ full
Use anti-freeze windshield washer fluid, check and fill regularly
Specialized care items- Baby formulas, diapers and extra medications as appropriate
