The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Homicide Bureau, is announcing the arrest of 29-year-old Gabriel Contreras of Azusa for the March 15th murder of his parents, Linda Rodriguez and Arthur Contreras.
The suspect was arrested on March, 19, 2025, and booked at the Azusa Police Department.
On March 21, 2025, the case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration. The District Attorney’s Office filed two counts of 187(a) PC and two counts of 245(a)(2) PC.

Dear Maria Lucero,
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a death investigation in the City of Azusa.
On Saturday, March 15, 2025, at approximately 2 PM, officers from the Azusa Police Department responded to a person screaming /possible domestic violence call for service in the 300 block of N. Twintree Avenue. Upon arrival, they detained a male adult in front of the location. That male had sustained numerous apparent knife wounds and was transported to an area hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Officers made entry to the location and discovered a male adult and female adult suffering from numerous apparent knife wounds. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced the individuals in the home deceased.
This investigation is ongoing, and there is no additional information available at this time.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Investigators are responding to a death investigation. The incident was reported on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., on the 300 block of N. Twintree Avenue, Azusa.
The two victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
