INCIDENT: Single Motorcycle Fatal Traffic Crash
INVOLVED PARTY(S): Andrew Herrera, 33-year-old Hispanic Male, Resident of Apple Valley
LOCATION: Otoe Road and Cheyenne Road, Apple Valley, CA
SUMMARY: On Saturday, March 15, 2025, at approximately 7:32 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Station, rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Department, and American Medical Response responded to a single vehicle traffic collision. The collision occurred on Otoe Road, west of Cheyenne Road, in the town of Apple Valley.
Through investigation, deputies determined a blue 2024 Yamaha XTZ 690 motorcycle was eastbound on Otoe, on a dirt easement. The motorcycle continued eastbound on the dirt easement when the driver lost control. The motorcycle flipped, and the driver was ejected. The driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The driver suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The driver later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
An investigator from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) arrived and is conducting an investigation. Otoe Road was closed between the intersections of Quantico Road and Navajo Road for approximately three hours while deputies processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.
