In the early hours of the morning of Monday March 3, 2025, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety (RPDPS) dispatch center received an audible alarm notification from John Reed Elementary School. RPDPS Patrol units arrived on scene within three minutes and observed that various rooms had been entered and vandalized.  School officials arrived on scene to assist with the investigation. Due to the excessive vandalism in multiple rooms within the school, the Cotati Rohnert Park Unified School District (CRPUSD) elected to cancel school for the day at John Reed Elementary School.
