Deputies Arrest Man Who Assaulted Customers and Caused Property Damage at a Local Bar
DATE/TIME: Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 7:20 p.m.
INCIDENT: PC 245(A)(1): ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON
PC 594(B)(1): VANDALISM $400 OR MORE
LOCATION: Big Rock Bar, 1828 State Highway 138 in Pinon Hills
SUSPECT: Troy Hettinga, 35 years of age, resident of Pinon Hills
SUMMARY: On Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 7:20 p.m., deputies responded to a 911 call at the Big Rock Bar in Pinon Hills. According to the caller, the suspect, later identified as Troy Hettinga, was intoxicated and was asked to leave the bar. Once outside the bar, the suspect broke two windows of the bar with his fists. Hettinga threatened employees and patrons. One patron was injured when she tripped running away from him as he threw rocks at her. She received medical treatment for her injuries at a local hospital.
Hettinga was holding a bloody rock in his hands when deputies arrived. He advanced on deputies and resisted arrest before being taken into custody. Hettinga cut his hands while breaking the windows and required medical attention. While at the hospital, he threatened the safety of medical staff.
Troy Hettinga was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism of $400 or more. He is currently being held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
