Traffic Collision Involving a Juvenile

On February 7, 2025, around 7:30 PM, Simi Valley Police Officers responded to the 2600 block of Tapo Canyon Rd for a radio call of 3-4 juveniles racing e-bikes at a high rate of speed on the sidewalk. An officer attempted to contact the juveniles, but one juvenile fled through the parking lot towards Alamo St and Michael Clark Memorial Pkwy. Another officer, who was at the intersection activated the police vehicle's lights and siren in an attempt to stop the juvenile. The juvenile went through a red light and attempted to cross in front of the police vehicle. The officer quickly stopped to avoid contact, however, the juvenile crashed the e-bike into the police vehicle's push-bar bumper. The juvenile sustained a non-life threatening injury and was treated at the scene by paramedics. The California Highway Patrol responded and conducted the traffic collision investigation.

Please remember that a person riding an electric bicycle is subject to the same provisions as a person riding a bicycle and must follow the rules of the road that a vehicle must follow, as described in the California Vehicle Code's Chapter 1 of Division 11, commencing with Section 21200.
