Upland Woman Arrested for Starting Brush Fire in Rancho Cucamonga

SUSPECT(S): Rhonda Ramos, 59-year-old, Resident of Upland
VICTIM(S): City of Rancho Cucamonga
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, January 23, 2025, at about 12:21 PM, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to a brush fire in an open field at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Lion Street. Sheriff’s Dispatch received several calls of an adult female fleeing the area as the fire started. Witnesses provided dispatch with a description of the female, who fled on foot to a nearby business.
Firefighters from the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District responded and extinguished the fire. Deputies arrived and located a subject, later identified as Rhonda Ramos, in front of a nearby business. Ramos was determined to be the subject fleeing from the burning field and matched the description provided by witnesses.
Ramos was detained and arrested for PC 451(c) – Arson. Ramos was transported and booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
