City of Hoboken announces new administrative agent for Affordable Housing Program

The City of Hoboken today announced a new Affordable Housing Program Administrative Agent, Acuity Consulting Services, which will oversee the City's existing 62 units of affordable housing. Acuity Consulting Services will now oversee the City’s Affordable Housing Waiting List, which determines the placement of households into any of Hoboken's vacant affordable housing units. Currently, there are no vacant units available.

Residents who have previously signed up for the waiting list do not need to take any action, as all existing applications will be transferred to Acuity Consulting Services and spots on the list will remain unchanged. During this transition period, applications will not be accessible starting on Friday, Jan. 24, at 12 p.m. The application portal will relaunch on Monday, Jan. 27, at 9 a.m. Those interested in applying to the Hoboken Affordable Housing Waiting List or updating information on an existing application, should visit HobokenAffordableHousing.com to access the new application portal at that time.

Acuity Consulting Services will contact eligible applicants as new affordable housing units become available or when current units are vacated. Selection will be based on household size, income, residency, and other criteria in accordance with State Law. Applicants must meet the maximum income limit for the available unit and other eligibility requirements. There are currently over 21,000 applicants on the waiting list.

For questions, please contact Acuity Consulting Services at [email protected] or 908-824-6207. For additional information, please visit their website at HobokenAffordableHousing.com or review frequently asked questions at www.hobokenaffordablehousing.com/faq.

Hoboken's affordable housing units have been created primarily through a mandated 10 percent set aside of all redevelopment projects, as required under the City's Affordable Housing Ordinance, as well as through certain new developments seeking variances that meet specific criteria.
