#LASD Kidnapping Suspect Arrested #EastLosAngeles
On Thanksgiving, November 28, 2024, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), Major Crimes Bureau (MCB) and East Los Angeles Station patrol deputies responded to the 1200 block of Dickson Avenue in East Los Angeles in response to a reported possible kidnapping. Witnesses reported seeing an unidentified female, Hispanic adult being physically assaulted by an unidentified adult male, Hispanic suspect.
Detectives were able to obtain video surveillance footage from a nearby location depicting the apparently distressed female exiting a white colored SUV. Seconds later a male (suspect) is observed approaching the female and throwing her to the ground. The suspect then picked up the female and forcibly placed her back into the vehicle where he proceeded to physically assault her. The vehicle then drove off with both the suspect and victim vehicle in it.
MCB detectives worked throughout the evening and into the following morning to identify both the still unidentified female victim and male suspect. Utilizing various law enforcement and investigative resources, a potential suspect and victim were identified.
The suspect, Ivan Cruz a resident of Santa Fe Springs, was identified and taken into custody at his residence without incident. The female adult victim observed on video surveillance being assaulted was identified as his girlfriend. She was located at another location in East Los Angeles. She was treated at the scene for minor injuries by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics. Suspect Ivan Cruz was ultimately arrested for kidnapping and domestic violence.
On December 2, 2024, the facts of this case were presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Upon reviewing the facts of this case, felony charges of kidnapping and domestic violence were filed against Suspect Ivan Cruz. He remains in-custody on $1,000,000 bail, pending a future court appearance.
