On November 14, 2024, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s (LASD) Homicide Bureau presented the case of a South Pasadena woman found murdered in her home on June 4, 2024, to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office (DA) for their filing consideration. The DA confirmed the filing of first-degree murder and burglary charges against two individuals they believe are responsible for the murder.
On June 4, 2024, officers from the South Pasadena Police Department responded to the 800 block of Brent Avenue, South Pasadena, and found Victim Susan Miller, 75, deceased inside her home due to apparent multiple stab wounds. LASD Homicide Bureau detectives responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
As a result of a five-month long investigation, LASD Homicide Bureau detectives arrested and charged Josh Atkins with first-degree murder and burglary for the stabbing death of Victim Miller. Birkamjot Padda, the grandson of Victim Miller, was also charged with first-degree murder and burglary in Victim Miller’s death.
