INCIDENT: Kidnapping, Inflicting Corporal Injury on Spouse/Cohabitant
LOCATION: Intersection of Beech Avenue & Hibiscus Avenue, Unincorporated Fontana
VICTIM: 65-year-old Female Resident of Unincorporated Fontana
SUSPECT: Isidro Contreras, a 52-year-old Male Resident of Unincorporated Fontana
SUMMARY: On Saturday, October 19, 2024, at about 9:40 p.m., deputies from the Fontana Station responded to an in-progress assault near the intersection of Beech Avenue & Hibiscus Avenue, in unincorporated Fontana. The reporting party told Sheriff’s Dispatch a male, later identified as Isidro Contreras, a 52-year-old resident of unincorporated Fontana, was punching and kicking the female victim.
Deputies arrived within minutes and found Contreras and the victim in the street nearby. The victim was in obvious distress. Contreras was holding the victim in a way that suggested she was being forced to move against her will. Contreras struggled with deputies but was detained without further incident.
Through investigation, deputies determined Contreras and the victim were in a relationship which she wished to end. Contreras threatened to kill the victim and himself, choked her with an object in an attempt to follow through on his threat, which resulted in injury, dragged her by her hair, and again threatened her when he saw law enforcement arrive. Contreras had a sharp object in his possession and physical evidence corroborating the above was located. It appeared Contreras was in the process of kidnapping the victim to harm her when deputies located them.
Contreras was arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $80,000 bail.
