Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a young male child.
Deputies from Palmdale Sheriff’s Station responded to the 38000 block of 10th Street E, Palmdale, regarding a medical emergency response call of a child not breathing.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at approximately 8:56 AM.
When deputies arrived on scene, they contacted the father of the child who stated his young son suddenly began suffering from a medical emergency at the park. The child was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
During the course of the investigation, Homicide detectives spoke with the father of the child, Schaffer Grindstaff MW/29, who was subsequently arrested for 32 PC (Accessory to conceal a crime, Child Endangerment).
The cause of death at this time is unknown and will be determined by the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner.
The investigation is ongoing, and currently, there is no additional information.
