Register to vote online/in-person by May 14 in order to vote in the June 4 Primary Election

Register to vote online or in-person for the June 4 Primary Election

Residents who are not yet registered to vote and would like to vote in the upcoming June 4 Democratic or Republican Primary Elections for President, U.S. Senate, U.S. Congress, and Hudson County Surrogate must register by end of day on Tuesday, May 14. 

To register to vote online, visit: https://voter.svrs.nj.gov/register. To register online, you will need a current driver’s license or non-driver identification card, or a social security number. 

The Hoboken City Clerk's Office (94 Washington Street, 1st Floor) will be open until 9 p.m. on Monday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 14, to accept paper voter registration applications. 

Residents can also print out a paper voter registration online at https://www.nj.gov/state/elections/voter-registration.shtml.   

Eligibility to vote in June 4 Primary

Those who are currently registered to vote or are planning to register to vote by end of day on Tuesday, May 14, are eligible to vote in the upcoming June 4 Democratic and Republican Primary Elections. Unaffiliated voters are eligible to vote in-person in either the Democratic or Republican Primary Election, by declaring their party at the polls during either early voting or on Election Day. Registered Democrats and Republicans are only permitted to vote in their party’s respective Primary Election. 

In-person early voting for the Primary Election will be held from May 29 through June 2.

Early voting will occur for the June 4 Primary Election, from Wednesday, May 29, through Sunday, June 2. Hoboken City Hall's first-floor conference room (94 Washington Street) is the City's only early voting location. The early voting location will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Voters should enter City Hall on Newark Street (between Washington Street and Bloomfield Street).   

Election Day voting 

Residents can also cast their ballot at their registered polling place on Tuesday, June 4. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voting by mail

Voters may also apply for a Mail-in Ballot by mail before the May 28 deadline or in person by 3 p.m. on June 3. For more information on how to apply for a mail in ballot, go to https://www.nj.gov/state/elections/vote-by-mail.shtml.   

There are three ways voters can submit their completed VBM ballot: 

  • Voters can return their VBM ballot by placing it in the nearest mailbox using the U.S. Postal Service. The ballot must be postmarked on or before June 4 and received by the Board of Elections.
  • There are also three secure ballot-drop box locations in Hoboken where voters can drop off their VBM ballot; one at Hoboken City Hall at 94 Washington St. on Newark Street, one at the Stevens University Gateway Building at Hudson Street and Sixth Street, and one on Monroe Street between Seventh and Eighth Streets. Voters must submit their VBM ballot in a secure drop box on or before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4.
  • Voters can also return their mail-in ballot in person to the Hudson County Board of Elections Office by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4. The Hudson County Board of Elections Office is located at Hudson County Plaza, 257 Cornelison Avenue, 4th Floor, Jersey City, NJ 07302. NOTE: VBM ballots CANNOT be returned to ANY early voting location or polling place.
