Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) deputies from the Marina Del Rey Station responded to a critical incident involving an active shooter at the 4100 block of Via Marina on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at approximately 10:15 PM. Upon arrival, deputies encountered gunfire emanating from the apartment complex and swiftly implemented a containment strategy while calling for additional law enforcement support.
A significant law enforcement response included the deployment of an LASD Aero unit, which observed a male suspect on the roof actively discharging a rifle. To support the containment efforts, personnel from various stations alongside agencies, including using four Bearcat armored vehicles, converged on the scene.
By approximately 1:00 AM on Sunday, April 14, 2024, an arrest team successfully located and detained the suspect without further incident. The individual has been identified as Victoryloc Nguyen (booking number #6792073), a 41-year-old male Asian from the Los Angeles area. Mr. Nguyen has been booked on charges related to the shooting and is currently held with bail set at 2 million dollars.
Following the arrest, deputies continued to canvas the area for any additional evidence, witnesses, or potential victims related to this incident. The LASD is committed to thoroughly investigating the full circumstances of this event.
Mr. Nguyen is scheduled to be in court on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
