**UPDATE** #LASD Homicide Dets Responded to Assist CHP w/ Officer Involved Shooting Inv., 200 block of Los Cerritos Center, #Cerritos
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a California Highway Patrol Officer-Involved Shooting. The incident occurred on Friday, April 5, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m. near the 300 block of Los Cerritos Center, in the city of Cerritos.
The California Highway Patrol, Southern Division Organized Retail Crime Task Force was conducting an operation at the Los Cerritos Center. During the operation, three suspects were identified as being involved in criminal activity.
The suspects fled the Los Cerritos Center. Two suspects, a Hispanic male adult, and a Hispanic female adult, drove away in a vehicle and were later apprehended in the city of Pico Rivera. The third suspect, a Hispanic male adult, ran through the parking lot, produced a firearm, and an officer-involved shooting occurred.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded and treated the third suspect at the scene. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased.
A firearm was recovered at the scene.
No officers were injured.
There are no outstanding suspects.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information at this time.

The suspect was transported to a local area hospital and pronounced deceased.
