Woman Arrested for DUI and Child Cruelty During a Traffic Stop in Victorville

VC 23152 (a): DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
LOCATION: Bear Valley Road / Pacoima Road, Victorville
SUSPECT: Marissa Cardenas, 40 years-old, resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On Saturday, March 1, 2024, at 8:59 p.m., while travelling west on Bear Valley Road, Deputy J. Mora observed a black Dodge Challenger swerving and hitting the curb. The vehicle continued to swerve, before making a northbound turn onto Pacoima Road.
Deputy Mora stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, Marissa Cardenas. Cardenas was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Inside her vehicle, Cardenas had two 14-year-old male juvenile relatives with her. Both juveniles showed signs of intoxication. An open container of malt liquor was found inside the vehicle.
Due to their extreme intoxication, both juveniles were transported to a local hospital. The juveniles were later released into the custody of their parents. Marissa Cardenas was arrested for cruelty to a child and driving under the influence. She was booked at High Desert Detention Center and later released on bail.
