INCIDENT: P.C. 664/187(A)- Attempted Murder, H&S 11377(A)- Possession of a Controlled Substance, and P.C. 1203.2(A)(1)- Probation Violation.
LOCATION: 16200 Block of Teton Street, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Nicholas Benjamin Ray, 38-year-old Resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On Friday, January 26, 2024, at approximately 8:19 a.m. deputies from the Victorville station responded to the 16200 block of Teton Street, in Victorville for a camper on fire.
Upon arrival, deputies learned the male suspect, identified as Nicholas Benjamin Ray, had contacted the victims on Thursday, January 25, 2024, demanding they leave the trailer immediately and stated he would be back the following day with friends. On the morning of January 26th, Ray returned to the location demanding the victims leave the trailer, the victims did not answer the door in fear that they would be confronted by Ray and his friends.
A short time later, the victims smelled gas, then saw flames and smoke coming in the front door. They attempted to open the door to leave but weren’t immediately able to. The victims were eventually able to escape by kicking the door open. The suspect fled the scene prior to deputies arriving, and an arrest warrant was issued.
Later that day, Ray was arrested in Apple Valley by deputies from the Apple Valley Police station. Ray was booked at High Desert Detention Center for P.C. 664/187(A)- Attempted Murder, H&S 11377(A)- Possession of a Controlled Substance, and P.C. 1203.2(A)(1)- Probation Violation.
