NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing to assist El Camino College Police Department with their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a female adult on the El Camino College campus.
Officers from El Camino College Police Department responded to the 16000 block of Crenshaw Boulevard in the city of Torrance regarding an assault call.
The incident occurred on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at approximately 7:08 AM.
Officers learned that while the victim, who is described as Asian female, 60-65 years of age, was on campus collecting recyclables, she was attacked by a Black male with a sledgehammer. The victim was transported to a local area hospital, where she subsequently died on December 25, 2023, due to her injuries.
Officers immediately began working on the case and were able to identify and apprehend the suspect not far from the college campus. The suspect was identified as Jeffery Davis, a Black male, 40 years of age.
There are no outstanding suspects, and no other people were injured during the incident.
The investigation is ongoing, and currently, there is no additional information available.
