Man Arrested for Cruelty to Animals After Killing Dog on His Property

LOCATION: 2200 Block of W. 3rd Avenue, San Bernardino
SUSPECT(S): Leobardo Martinez, 68-year-old Resident of San Bernardino and One Unknown Hispanic Male Adult
VICTIM(S): Husky Dog
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, deputies assigned to the Central Station responded to an animal cruelty report in Muscoy.
Witnesses reported two Hispanic males tied a Huskey to a tree and struck it with a machete and large piece of wood until it died.
Deputies identified one suspect as Leobardo Martinez and the second suspect is still unidentified. It was discovered that, prior to the incident, the Husky entered Martinez' property and allegedly killed his fowl.
Martinez was arrested and booked in at the Central Detention Center for PC 597(a), Felony Cruelty to Animals. Martinez is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
