Wilmington Police charge man in connection with death of 21-month old child:

Wilmington Police have charged a man in connection with the death of a 21-month-old child.
 
On March 11 at approximately 9:29 a.m., police responded to the 100 block of Town Estates Drive in reference to a child suffering from a medical emergency. The child, a 21-month-old girl, was transported to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
 
A death investigation was conducted by the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences, which determined that the victim’s cause of death was homicide. Following collaboration between Detective Brianna Rodrigues of the Criminal Investigations Division and the Delaware Department of Justice, on November 2 warrants were obtained for 30-year-old Timothy Olschafskie of Ansonia, Connecticut, in connection with this incident.
 
Olschafskie was taken into custody on the same date by the police department in Enfield, Connecticut, and was extradited to Delaware on November 14. He has since been arraigned on the following charge:

  • Murder by Abuse or Neglect (First Degree)
Olschafskie was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $2,000,000 cash-only bail.
 
We will not be releasing any further details about this incident out of respect for the victim’s family.
