INDIANAPOLIS- On Sunday, October 29, 2023, at approximately 12:00 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) North District officers responded to 5100 E. 65th Street, on a report of a large party. Upon arrival in the area, responding officers reported hearing gunshots and observed a large crowd dispersing from the scene. At this location, what is believed to be an adult female was found with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Additionally, officers located multiple individuals with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds at the scene. Several individuals were transported to local hospitals by means other than public safety. At this time, there are ten known victims, including one deceased individual. The nine surviving victims are in stable condition. The IMPD will not provide updated conditions unless any of the surviving victims are pronounced deceased. The age ranges of the victims span from 16 to 22 years old.
The IMPD Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin their investigation. Preliminarily, officers detained numerous individuals, and our investigative team is actively working to establish their involvement in this incident. No arrest has been made. Multiple firearms were discovered at the scene. Currently, there is no known active threat to the public. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) is assisting and will determine the exact cause and manner of death. The MCCO will release the decedent’s name once a proper next-of-kin notification has been made.

The deceased victim was a teenage female. The Marion County Coroner’s office will provide her identity and age after notification to next-of-kin. The non-fatal shooting victims’ ages and genders are as follows:
