The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Ojai Station, Ventura Unified School District and the Oak View Park and Resource Center are partnering to host a Fall Bike Safety Carnival for Oak View area youth. Bicycle trained deputies from the Ojai Patrol Station will talk with Oak View area youths about bicycle safety as well as inspect bicycles for state mandated safety equipment. Deputies will also join children as they navigate a simulated obstacle course on the grounds of the Oak View Park and Resource Center. The Ventura Unified School District will provide a limited number of bicycles and helmets for children who would like to attend but are unable to bring their own. With the beginning of the new school year, many student age children are using bicycles to travel between school and home as well as recreate with peers after school hours. The goal of this event is to encourage local youths to operate bicycles in a safe manner and use safety equipment to decrease the risk of accidents and injuries. For more information on the event, contact the Ojai Police Department at (805) 646-1414 Or the Ventura Unified School District at (805) 641-5000. |
