This morning, Sunday, September 3, 2023, at approximately 9 a.m., the suspect involved in the murder in the 15300 block of Goodhue Street, in the unincorporated area of Whittier was arrested by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department personnel. Mr. Rolland Alexander, an 84-year-old White male, was stabbed to death in his home on Monday, August 28, 2023. The suspect is also believed to be involved in an assault of an elderly victim in the city of Whittier the same day.
Homicide investigators worked around the clock to identify the suspect after learning of the murder on Tuesday, August 29th. Tips from the public and other law enforcement agencies, along with surveillance footage that was recovered, led investigators to identify this suspect. Homicide Bureau was assisted by numerous bureaus and stations within the Sheriff’s Department and law enforcement agencies throughout the Southern California area.
The suspect was detained and arrested for burglary and murder. The name of the suspect is being withheld at this time pending further investigation. The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for filing considerations.
Further updates regarding the case will be provided after consulting with the District Attorney’s Office. The law enforcement agencies involved in this investigation would like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation during this process.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing death of male adult victim.
On Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at approximately 3:00 p.m., deputies from Norwalk Sheriff’s Station responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 15300 block of Goodhue Street, in the unincorporated area of Whittier.
When the deputies arrived on scene, they discovered a male White adult with apparent stab wounds laying on the floor inside the residence. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
There is no additional information available at this time and the investigation is on-going.
