VICTIM(S): Tyreque Oshay Scott, 24-year-old Victorville Resident

UPDATE: Through continued investigation, investigators positively identified 24-year-old Taj Carter as the suspect in the stabbing death of Tyreque Scott.
On July 31, 2023, with assistance from the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division, Taj Carter was located and apprehended at a residence in Hesperia. Carter was arrested for PC 187 Murder and booked into the Central Detention Center.

SUMMARY: On Thursday, May 24, 2023, at approximately 10:48 a.m., deputies with the Victorville Police Department responded to an unknown problem in the 14200 block of Rodeo Drive. Upon arriving, deputies found the male victim, Tyreque Oshay Scott, near the front of the apartment complex in need of medical aid. Deputies rendered aid until emergency medical personnel arrived and Scott was transported to a local hospital. Despite life-saving efforts Scott was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigation Division – Homicide Detail responded and are conducting the investigation. It was determined that Scott had received sharp force injuries. A suspect(s) has not been identified. Further information will be released when it becomes available.
