Narrative:
On June 4, 2023, deputies with Camarillo Patrol Services responded to a battery that occurred in the 1700 block of East Daily Drive, in the City of Camarillo. Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim who had been severely battered.  The male victim was transported to Saint John’s Pleasant Valley Emergency Room where he was treated for his wounds.  Detectives with the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit and the Camarillo Directed Enforcement Unit responded to assist with the investigation.

As the investigation unfolded, detectives learned three subjects attacked the victim to the point where the victim lost consciousness.  After the victim lost consciousness, the suspects continued to attack the victim by kicking him in the head several times.

Detectives identified the three suspects as Victor Centina, Jordan Dowling, and Brandan Fried.

Detectives authored numerous search warrants which included warrants for the residences of all three suspects. On June 15, 2023, the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit and Camarillo Directed Enforcement Unit served the search warrants with the assistance of the West County Special Enforcement Unit, and the Camarillo Investigations Bureau.

During the service of the search warrants, Centina and Dowling were taken into custody.

On July 5, 2023, Fried was taken into custody. During the service of the search warrants, evidence further implicating the three suspects in the crime were located.  Additionally, detectives located a video of the battery that was filmed by one of the suspects.

Centina, Dowling, and Fried were booked into the Ventura County Main Jail for violations of PC 245(a)(1) - Assault with a Deadly Weapon, PC 243(d) - Battery Causing Serious Bodily Injury, and PC 182(a)(1) - Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.

Fried is currently in custody with a bail amount set at $50,000.00.  Dowling and Centina were released on bail awaiting trial.

The Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit is comprised of a sergeant and four detectives, whose focus is assisting patrol services with the investigation of various crimes including, but not limited to, the investigation of illegal firearms, gang related crimes, and graffiti vandalism.
