Air Quality Alert remains in effect; Tips for reducing exposure

Smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to impair air quality throughout New Jersey. In Hoboken, the air quality is currently in the
New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Red Zone and remains in the unhealthy category. The NJ DEP has extended the alert through tomorrow, June 8, at 11:59 p.m.

Those with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens should reduce exposure. The Hudson Regional Heath Commission recommends sensitive individuals stay indoors. Those who cannot stay inside are encouraged to limit time outside. Avoid strenuous outdoor activities, and keep windows and doors shut. If you must spend extended periods of time outdoors, wearing a mask may help limit the irritation of the respiratory system. Consider your pets as well and keep their time outdoors limited.

A reminder that all outdoor City recreation programs have been cancelled today, June 7. Tonight's 6 p.m. Fitness in the Park class with Jane Do has been cancelled. The outdoor Fitness in the Park class with CROSSFIT Hoboken has been moved inside. Contact the studio at (973) 296-3273 for more information.
The Hoboken Police Department asks residents to only dial 911 for emergencies. The non-emergency line for HPD is (201) 420-2100.
