On June 4, 2023, at approximately 1558 hours, deputies from the Wasco Substation were dispatched to the 2400 block of Jo Ellen Court, Wasco, for a report of a shooting. Prior to deputies arriving, they were informed the possible victim arrived at the fire station, in the 2400 block of 7th Street, suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was ultimately transported to a local hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, deputies identified Alberto Padilla Jr. (40), of Wasco, as the suspect. Alberto Padilla Jr. fled the scene, along with his father, Alberto Padilla Sr. (62) prior to deputies’ arrival, in a black GMC Yukon (CA 7GCD787). Alberto Padilla Jr. and Alberto Padilla Sr. are considered to still be armed and dangerous.
There is an active warrant for Alberto Padilla Jr.’s arrest for Attempted Murder, Felon in possession of a firearm, and Prohibited person possession of ammunition. There is also an active warrant for Alberto Padilla Sr for Accessory.

Deputies located a 34-year-old male victim in the 2400 block of 7th Street suffering from traumatic injuries. The male victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
