*UPDATE* Arrest made; Victim located #LASD Major Crimes Bureau Seeking Assistance in Possible Kidnapping Victim/Suspect #EastLA
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Major Crimes Bureau – Metro Detectives worked through the night. Utilizing surveillance videos from nearby businesses and the Montebello Transit bus, as well as various investigative resources, and they were able to identify Suspect Angel Flores (24 years old) as the male depicted in the videos.
On May 23, 2023, it was learned that Suspect Flores was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department, Newton Division officers several hours after the reported kidnapping for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Metro Detail detectives contacted the suspect and conducted an interview of Suspect Flores the LAPD 77th Street Division jail. It was learned that during the arrest of Suspect Flores by Los Angeles Police Department officers, they recovered a replica firearm from his vehicle that resembled the firearm used by Suspect Flores during the kidnapping.
Metro Detail detectives were able to locate the female victim uninjured a short time later. After interviewing her, detectives learned she was in a dating relationship with Suspect Flores.
Suspect Flores was arrested by Metro Detail detectives for kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism. Metro Detail detectives will present their case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for a consideration of filing criminal charges.

ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Major Crimes Bureau – Metro Detail, is investigating a possible kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon, which occurred on Monday, May 22, 2023, at approximately 8:38 p.m., on the 3800 block of E. Third St, in the unincorporated community of East Los Angeles.
The incident was captured on surveillance video and depicted a female adult attempting to board a Montebello Transit bus. As the female boarded the bus, she was confronted from behind by a male adult suspect.
The bus driver and a passenger attempted to intervene on the female’s behalf when the male suspect broke a window on the bus and retrieved a handgun from a nearby vehicle, described as a 4-door, white colored, possible 2022 Honda Civic. The suspect pointed the handgun at the bus driver and appeared to coerce the female into the nearby vehicle, driven by the male suspect. The vehicle then left the location east on Third Street, to the eastbound S/R 60 freeway and out of view.
The victim is described as a female Hispanic in her mid-20’s, approximately 5”-6” tall, 130lbs., with brown hair. The suspect is described as male Hispanic in his mid-20’s, approximately 5’8”,170-190 lbs., driving a 4-door white, possible 2022 Honda Civic.
