On Friday, August 12, 2022, Azuma Bennett was murdered in the city of Windsor Hills.
Homicide Investigators worked diligently to identify and apprehend Azuma Bennett’s killer.
On September 22, 2022 investigators arrested Gabriel Alvarado, a Hispanic male from the Los Angeles area, for the murder of Azuma Bennett.
Gabriel Alvarado was booked in the Los Angeles County Jail under booking #6469079.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed Case #SA107248 against Gabriel Alvarado. A court date is set for November 21, 2022, at the Airport Courthouse in Department 31.

FIRST UPDATE PRESS RELEASE FOLLOWS
Homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male adult.
Marina Del Rey Sheriff’s deputies responded to a marijuana dispensary located at the 3800 block of Slauson Avenue, Los Angeles regarding a shots fired call at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, August 12th, 2022. Upon arrival, they located a male adult, in the doorway, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the location and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
There is no additional information being released at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
