Theft of purse from shopping cart. January 18th. Do not leave a purse or wallet in a cart, even if you are with it.

The Lower Paxton Township Police Department is currently investigating the theft of a purse, which occurred on Monday January 18th at 11:45 AM. In this case, a senior citizen was shopping at Weis Markets, 5125 Jonestown Rd. The citizen had her purse sitting in the child seat portion of the shopping cart. She briefly turned away from the cart and an unknown person took her purse from the cart and left the store with it. The purse was later found in the parking lot of the store, minus cash that was in it.

A W/M, 20's, medium build was seen by the cart when the purse was stolen. Store security video is being obtained and will be released of the suspect.

We remind the public, not to leave wallets/purses unattended in carts while shopping. Preferably the wallet/purse should be carried on your person. It only takes 5 seconds, for you to turn your back and to have someone walk by your cart and take your property.
