Advisory

For information and advice on the upcoming storm, please refer to the detailed post or tune into 1610AM.

With the coming increase in rain, the Town of San Anselmo wants to remind citizens to be ready for winter storms.

Before the storm: Clear drains around your home. Rake up and bag leaves. Leaves can clog drains and cause water to back up and cause local flooding. Keep emergency supplies on hand including: First aid kit, Non perishable food, Cash, Portable radio, flashlights and extra batteries, Drinking water – 3 day supply per person, Emergency building materials – plywood, plastic sheeting and sandbags

During the Storm: Cancel non-essential appointments, Avoid areas prone to flooding, such as downtown. Do not drive down a flooded road. If your vehicle stalls, seek higher ground if you can safely do so. Do not go sightseeing – stay out of areas blocked off by authorities. Tune to local radio or television stations for updates and emergency information. Don’t call the police unless you have an emergency. Be prepared to evacuate, and if advised to evacuate, do so immediately.

During a flood emergency, the automated Telephone Emergency Notification System will be activated within affected areas. The automated notification system uses the 911 telephone database to deliver the re-recorded message.
