Pettis County Sheriff goes live with Nixle notifications via text message, email, and web browser.

Sedalia, MO – Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond is launching a new Community Information Service designed to deliver important and timely information to residents in the area using the latest technology.

The service, created by Nixle, LLC delivers trustworthy and important neighborhood-level public safety and community event notifications by web, e-mail, and cell phone. The broadcast information originates from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office.

Nixle is simple, trusted and available at no cost. There is no spam or advertising associated with Nixle messages.

Residents may learn more and register for the service www.nixle.com. Citizens are also encouraged to spread the word on this new service so that others may benefit from the notifications.

Nixle is built exclusively to provide secure and reliable communications. Its authenticated service connects law enforcement agencies to residents in real time, delivering information to geographically targeted consumers over their cell phones (via text messages), through e-mails and through Web access. The Sheriff’s Office has the option of distributing each message to all subscribers or just those in close proximity to the event, such as a mile or half-mile radius.

“This is a unique opportunity for citizens to receive information directly from my office,” says Sheriff Kevin Bond. “People can select the types of information they wish to receive and how they receive it. Whether you just want emergency alerts or every notification we send, you can get them as text messages, e-mails, or directly from the web. The choice is yours. This is a tremendous opportunity to extend community policing to the citizens we serve. But you have to subscribe to receive the messages.”

Craig Mitnick, the founder and CEO of Nixle, said Nixle differs from current services such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, which provide unauthenticated platforms for connections. Nixle solves that problem by providing a single standardized service for consumers to receive immediate and credible neighborhood-level public safety and community information.

“Nixle is a first-of-its-kind tool for communities that need to provide critical information to their residents,” said Mitnick. “When it comes to public safety information, you have to trust the source. Residents of Pettis County can rest easy that the local messages they receive are authentic.”
