A ten year old is charged in a case involving the use of a deadly weapon.

Jackson Police charge a ten year old juvenile with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Employing a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.

On November 17th at approximately 5:00 p.m. officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to a reported shooting incident at 504 Daugherty Street, East Point Apartments.  Responding officers located a sixteen year old male victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.  The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital and then transferred to the Med in Memphis where he is listed in "critical but stable" condition.

During the investigation, it was determined that the victim had been intentionally shot by the ten year old female.  The weapon was recovered and the female suspect was taken into custody.  This ten year old suspect is currently in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children's Services.

Jackson Police are not looking for any other suspects.  Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have information is asked to call the Jackson Police Department at 731-425-8400.
