Harris County Jail Inmate Charged with Murder of Fellow Inmate
May 29, 2020 -- A Texas Rangers investigation into the May 6 death of Harris County Jail inmate Jerome Nebuwa, 30, has resulted in a murder charge against another inmate.
A murder charge was filed against Gregory Keith Curtis, 26, after multiple inmates told Texas Rangers they saw him attack Nebuwa from behind on the night of May 4.
On May 5, Nebuwa sought medical treatment complaining of nauseau, which he received at the jail clinic. As he left the clinic, Nebuwa lost consciousness and was then taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where he died on May 6.
An autopsy revealed Nebuwa suffered severe head injuries that caused his death. It is believed that the head injuries caused his nausea.
The Texas Rangers to conduct an independent investigation into Nebuwa's death at the request of the Sheriff's Office.
