Wilmington Police investigation results in arrest in connection with February shooting incident:
A Wilmington Police investigation has resulted in an arrest in connection with a shooting incident that took place in February.
On February 11 at approximately 11:12 p.m., police were dispatched to the 300 block of North Broom Street in reference to a shooting that had occurred. Police located a 34-year-old male gunshot victim, who arrived at the hospital in stable condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Kevin Murphy of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Murphy was able to identify 48-year-old Erick Coleman as a suspect, and arrest warrants were obtained. With the assistance of the United States Marshals Task Force, investigators learned that Coleman might be in Georgia.
Coleman was located by the United States Marshals Service in Georgia, and was taken into custody and extradited to Delaware. He has been charged with the following offenses:
- Attempted Murder (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – 2 Counts
- Attempted Robbery (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
