Wilmington Police arrest adult and juvenile on gun and drug charges:
Wilmington Police have arrested an adult and juvenile on gun and drug charges.
On April 4 at approximately 9:07 p.m. members of the Safe Streets Task Force made contact with a suspicious vehicle in the 500 block of West 24th Street. Upon making contact with the occupants officers detected a strong odor of marijuana. Police took 36-year-old Daniel Evans and a 14-year-old male into custody.
Police recovered a semi-automatic 9mm rifle, a .45 caliber Long Colt handgun and 36 grams of marijuana.
Evans was charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (2 counts)
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person who is also in Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
The 14-year-old was charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person who is also in Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Resisting Arrest
