UPDATE 4/4/2020, 4:00 PM – CDC launches COVIDView, weekly US COVID-19 activity summary. SBA Paycheck Protection loans forgiven for first eight weeks of payroll.

Malibu City Hall is closed. However, essential City staff, including the Emergency Operations Team, are working. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated on March 13 and is operating 7 days a week. CDC LAUNCHES COVIDView – WEEKLY SUMMARY REPORT OF US STATISTICS, NEW DATA
On April 3, the CDC launched COVIDView, a weekly report of COVID-19 activity that summarizes and interprets key indicators from a number of existing surveillance systems. The report, which will be updated each Friday, provides CDC expert summaries and interpretations of important and timely surveillance data to track the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. COVIDView includes information related to COVID-19 outpatient visits, emergency department visits, hospitalizations and deaths, as well as laboratory data. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/covid-data/covidview.html
 
SBA PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM OFFERS NEARLY $350 MILLION IN SMALL BUSINESS LOANS
On April 3, the Small Business Administration (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program began offering nearly $350 billion in loans to small businesses. If an employer maintains its workforce, the SBA will forgive the portion of the loan used to cover the first eight weeks of payroll and certain other expenses. In addition to its traditional loan programs, the SBA is also providing Economic Injury Disaster Loans and forgiveness for up to six months of new and existing loans. https://www.sba.gov/PaycheckProtection
 
LA COUNTY HEALTH OFFICER REVISED ORDERS CLARIFY SELF-QUARANTINE AND SELF-ISOLATION
On April 1, the Los Angeles County Health Officer issued two Revised Orders to provide further clarification of what actions should be taken by individuals who have or are likely to have COVID-19, and actions to be taken by those who came in close contact with someone who has or may have COVID-19:

• Self-Isolation – All individuals who have been diagnosed with or are likely to have COVID-19 must isolate themselves until at least three days after resolution of a fever without the use of medication, and respiratory symptoms have improved AND at least seven days after the symptoms first appeared. They must also notify any individuals with whom they came in contact to self-quarantine for fourteen days from the date of contact. • Self-Quarantine – All household contacts, intimate partners, caregivers, and others who have been in close contact with a person diagnosed with or likely to have COVID-19 must quarantine themselves. A person is considered a close contact of someone with or likely to have COVID-19 if: A) they were within six feet of  that person for more than 10 minutes; OR B) had unprotected contact with the person, either through a cough or sneeze, sharing utensils exposure to saliva without wearing protective equipment. These apply if the contact was within 48 hours before that person’s symptoms began and until that person is no longer required to be isolated. The City of Malibu will publish emergency information about the Coronavirus on the City website: www.MalibuCity.org/Coronavirus. Residents and businesses are asked to share emergency information with their Spanish-speaking staff and contractors.

CORONAVIRUS PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE
The City of Malibu continues to monitor the status of the Coronavirus and implement measures to protect public health and safety and is doing everything possible to support vulnerable community members.  The City continues to follow the recommendations of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH), California Office of Emergency Services (CALOES) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and is taking steps to reduce the likelihood of community spread. 

Residents should be complying with the State’s “Stay at Home” order, and leaving their homes only to conduct essential business, such as grocery shopping, medical appointments. When it is necessary to go out in public for essential business, residents are recommended to wear cloth face coverings to help prevent the spread of the virus. Residents should also connect with neighbors, particularly seniors or those with underlying health conditions, to see if they need help in any way.
