Death of a Haledon Resident from Complications of COVID-19

Our Haledon Community:

As your Mayor, I regret to inform you about the first death of a Haledon resident due to complications of Coronavirus (COVID-19). I extend my deepest condolences to the family. As of this writing, there have been thirty one (31) confirmed COVID-19 cases in Haledon.

I would also like to bring the following to your attention:

• Effective Tuesday, April 7, 2020, the Recycling Center drive-thru will be reopened. Residents utilizing the Recycling Center are urged to adhere to social distancing guidelines;

• Borough Hall offices continue to be closed to the public until further notice. Municipal payments are still being accepted at Borough Hall via drop-box. No cash will be accepted. We encourage residents to utilize online payment services, regular mail, email or telephone;

• The Passaic County Health Department continues to administer COVID-19 daily testing, Monday through Saturday, 9:00AM to 12:00PM, in Lot 6 of William Paterson University. You must be a Passaic County resident and you must have a prescription from a healthcare provider. If you are in need of a prescription, you may utilize the telehealth service being offered by Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center for a fee. Please visit www.stjosephshealth.org/telehealth for more information regarding the telehealth program;

• Alternate side of the street parking has been suspended and no citations will be issued for street cleaning parking violations during the State of Emergency. However, the street sweeper will still be deployed periodically to clean as much as practicable. Curbside trash pick-up, including recycling, is also being conducted as scheduled; and

• We are aware of a health alert issued by the City of Paterson Health Department regarding the Diamond Years Adult Daycare on West Clinton Street. Please be advised that this facility was ordered closed by local emergency declaration on March 18, 2020. Law enforcement is currently investigating any breach of the emergency order.
