Marin County Shelter Order - extended and updated 3-31-2020

As many of you know, yesterday Marin County Public Health issued a superseding, extended, and revised Public Health Order and revised Park Closure Order that is in effect until 11:59 p.m. on May 3, 2020.

This new order was issued because the COVID-19 public health crisis has worsened over the past two weeks. The prior Shelter Order has been effective in helping to “flatten the curve” of virus transmissions, but it is not enough. Our County Health Officer has determined that a more restrictive Order and stricter physical distancing – the six-foot rule – is needed to slow the rate of spread and prevent deaths.

All of the new documents are available at https://coronavirus.marinhhs.org . The page has a very helpful Executive Summary of the updated Order. Starting on page 3 of the Executive Summary you will find a detailed list and clear explanation of the changes. There is an expanded and updated Frequently Asked Questions section there as well.

The updated Order clarifies that violations can be enforced by law enforcement and through civil remedies. Failure to comply with the requirements is a misdemeanor crime and violators are subject to arrest or citation.

Please share this information with your family and neighbors who may not use Nixle or social media. Another piece of info to share is a new telephone resource available for seniors who may not be able to navigate on-line resources and services. The State has setup a hotline to deliver services and help for older Californians as they shelter at home. The number is 1-833-544-2374.

Physical distancing does not mean social or emotional isolation. Stay connected and check-in - either by phone, text, or from six feet - with your friends and neighbors, especially seniors or folks who live alone. This is an anxious and frightening time for everyone. Please be secure in the knowledge that we, all of us at CMPA, are here for you every day, 24/7.

Stay home and stay safe. We’ll get through this together.
