Being Safe Means Being Aware
Plumsted Township
Residents should be reminded that even though members of our community, volunteers, businesses and our professional responders have pulled together during this time of emergency and continue to lend assistance and support to all, there remain a few, who though unscrupulous means attempt to deceive and defraud vulnerable populations.
Incidents of outright fraud and identity theft have increased over these past few weeks. We caution you not to give out personal information or credit card numbers over the phone. Likewise, do not click on unknown email links even if the site appears legitimate. Investigate all sites seeking donations as to their legitimacy before sharing personal information or contributing to them. Report suspicious behavior to law enforcement so that it can be investigated. The links listed below provide more information and additional reporting mechanisms.
