Road Striping & Waste Management Debris Collection 3/30

Road Striping & Marking
Please be advised, beginning Monday, March 30 through Tuesday, March 31, road striping and marking will take place on the following roads:

  • North and South Beachview Dr.
  • North and South Riverview Dr.
  • Capt. Wylly Rd.
  • Shell Rd.
  • Ben Fortson Pkwy.
Residents on North and South Beachview Dr., North and South Riverview Dr. and Capt. Wylly Rd. should refrain from running irrigation sprinklers along their streets on these two dates to prevent damaging the markings.

Waste Management Debris Collection
As a reminder, beginning Monday, March 30, Waste Management will be shifting pickup protocols based on recommendations from county and state officials regarding the impact of COVID-19 to the area.

Waste Management will be temporarily suspending pickup of yard debris services, other than leaf piles that can be collected with an automated vacuum truck whereby the driver does not have to exit the cab of the vehicle.

Leaf Collection Guidelines:
  • Leaves should be raked loose to the curb but not into the roadway.
  • Avoid placing injurious material or obstructions in the street.
  • Leaf piles should be free from landscaping debris (i.e., brush, stones, rocks, bushes, trash) to prevent damage to equipment and personnel.
  • Improperly placed leaves in the roadway over stormwater drains or open ditches may cover inlets causing a potential blockage and restrict water flow.
  • This service is NOT intended for use by professional landscaping contractors or landscapers who perform leaf removal service for a homeowner. Residents that utilize landscape services must request these companies take all yard debris off island.
  • For residents who do not have landscaping services, large branches and vegetative debris can be taken to a marked location setup on Ogden St. north of the Seafarer Inn & Suites surrounded by orange construction fencing, and it will be removed by JIA on a weekly basis.
  • ONLY yard debris should be placed in the area fenced off in the Ogden St. field. Household appliances, furniture, construction debris and the like are prohibited.
Landscaping debris that is collected at this location will be recycled into mulch for use in public areas on the island.

All regular trash and recycle pickup services will continue at this time, as normally scheduled.

The JIA will provide an update on when Waste Management will resume normal debris pickup services, when a date is announced by the company.
