Petaluma Police Department officers investigated the report of possible mail theft in the 700 block of Mountain View Avenue. The victim confronted a female adult at her doorstop, whom the victim did not know to reside in the area. The female suspect asked the victim if the previous homeowner still resided at the residence and then left in a green or blue late 1990s model BMW coupe. The victim later checked her mailbox and noticed an outgoing letter was missing which contained confidential personal information.
The unknown white female suspect is approximately 35-40 years old, heavy set, shoulder length brunette hair, and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a sweater.
Petaluma PD strongly encourages you, if not using online services, to place outgoing bills and confidential information directly in your local Post Office branch instead of mailboxes, and to not leave mail in boxes on weekends.
