Message from the Mayor

Mayor Brian Carlin has released another statement regarding the impacts of Coronavirus in Burlington Township.  His statement can be found on the Township website.

Important highlights from the Mayor’s statement include:
  1. The Burlington County Department of Health has advised of (2) confirmed cases of the COVID-19 in Burlington Township.
  2. Effective March 24, 2020, all parks, playground and recreational facilities will be closed until further notice.  The walking paths and open spaces will remain open.

Compost Center – Recycling Drop-Off Site

Effective immediately, Burlington Township Public Works has announced that the Compost Center and Recycling Drop-Off Site located at 902 Lake Avenue, is closed until further notice.  Please call (609) 239-5909 with any questions about this closure.

Impact on the Sewer System

The Burlington Twp. Sewer Department has seen an increase in wipes and other products clogging the system.  Please do NOT flush any baby wipes, disinfectant wipes, paper towels, wash rags, and anything else that is not meant to be flushed in a toilet.

Flushing wipes results in back-ups within the sewer lines and equipment, causing issues with home service as well as the treatment plant.

Burlington Twp. & Burlington City Municipal Court

All Municipal Court sessions scheduled through until April 30, 2020 have been cancelled.  The Court office remains open at this time.  Payments for fines or costs are encouraged to be made using NJMC Direct.  Anyone with questions about Municipal Court closures should call (609) 239-5825.

Coronavirus Scams and Misinformation

Scammers are taking advantage of the fears surrounding the Coronavirus outbreak.  We must be vigilant as ever with the sharing of our information and to take appropriate measures to prevent ourselves from being the victim of a scam.  For more information and to make a report about a Coronavirus scam, please visit the Federal Trade Commission and NJ Division of Consumer Affairs websites.

There are a lot facts and rumors/disinformation surrounding the Coronavirus outbreak.  The NJ Department of Homeland Security has set up a website to help the public distinguish between what is fact and what is false information.  COVID-19 Rumor Control and Disinformation Updates can be found here.

In addition, due to the current state of emergency, all “in-person” interviews for the 2020 Census have been cancelled until further notice.  If someone knocks on your door claiming to be a census worker, please call the police department’s non-emergency number, (609) 386-1000, so that officers may respond and investigate accordingly.

Executive Order #109

On Monday, March 23, 2020, Governor Murphy announced Executive Order #109 which suspends all elective surgeries and invasive procedures for adults.  This shall go into effect beginning at 5:00 PM on Friday, March 27.  To read about this executive order in full, please click here.

This measure has been taken in order to preserve essential medical equipment and hospital capacity, which is needed for the Coronavirus outbreak.  “An ‘elective’ surgery or invasive procedure…is defined as any surgery or invasive procedure that can be delayed without undue risk to the current or future health of the patient as determined by the patient’s treating physician or dentist.”  Please direct all questions about the status of a scheduled surgery or procedure to your doctor or healthcare provider.
