Message from the City Administrator

Dear community,

The rapidly evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging. We are here to help you make sense of directives coming from our public health partners and Governor Evers’ office.

Governor Evers’ Safer at Home Order went into effect at 8 am on March 25 and provides the following guidelines:

•Only leave your home for essential trips i.e. purchasing groceries or medication, caring for loved ones or exercising outdoors

•Do not host gatherings of people beyond the ones currently living in your home

•Playgrounds are closed to the public

All Sun Prairie public safety services including our police, emergency medical services and fire departments will continue to serve your needs. We have partnerships that ensure the continuity of these services so we can respond to emergencies as they arise. We also continue to provide utility service, as well as trash and recycling pick-up. Other city services continue to operate, but at a limited capacity. We are encouraging residents to access city services online at www.cityofsunprarie.com or by phone.

As we work to maintain city services, our upcoming election is a top priority. We are planning to hold the April 7 election as scheduled. Residents can request an absentee ballot online through April 2 at myvote.wi.gov. All In-Person Absentee Voting will be held at City Hall through April 3. We are reaching out to community members to serve as election workers. If you are interested and able to serve, please apply at www.governmentjobs.com/careers/sunprairiewi

Please know that whether you are a voter or an election official, we have taken steps to mitigate health risks with protective equipment and by implementing social distancing policies.

We know the COVID-19 pandemic will continue to have an impact on all of us. We encourage all residents to reach out to us and our community partners like the Sunshine Place for assistance as needed. This will help us better understand and meet the needs of our community.

The spirit that has brought Sun Prairie together during past challenges will equip us to navigate the uncertainties we are facing now. Please stay safe and stay in touch during this unprecedented time.

Sincerely,

Aaron Oppehnheimer
City Administrator
